Our Video Streaming Tests

Last updated 7 months ago

All Whiteboxes are equipped to test the following streaming sites: YouTube, Netflix and BBC iPlayer (your study will determine whether your particular Whitebox tests these sites).

When it comes to video streaming, we focus on the quality of experience. This means that we're looking for a stable connection. We test for this by simulating what it would be like for you to stream a constant bitrate video from the web over TCP (Transmission Control Protocol). Our tests look at the initial time it takes for the video to buffer, the number of buffer underruns, and the total time for buffer delays.

We also provide tests for these main content providers because we know how important those TV series and cat videos on YouTube really are to you at the end of a long day.
